Welcome to KFUNonline.com A friend of the community since Christmas Day 1941. 66 YEARS OF BROADCASTING Music format: Oldies, Hot Country, Spanish. KFUN/AM 1230 WILL "STOP" BROADCASTING " ON THE INTERNET AS of JANUARY 31, 2008. WHY??..........READ ON. KFUN started broadcasting on the Internet on October of 2005. During this time, thousands of fans around the WORLD have enjoyed our morning show with J. P. Baca, our talk show, "Over The Back Fence", the "Loretta Baca country show, our Spanish program with the "Roadrunner", and Cipriano Aguilar, and the broadcast of our local high school games. More and more, broadcasting on the Internet is becoming very expensive. We at KFUN have never realized any income from the internet. We have some built in expenses which keep increasing. But we have always provided this as a "FREE" service to our listeners. There is a Copyright Royalty Board, (CRB), that as of this January has imposed additional, higher fees on radio stations that broadcast music on the Internet. These fees are retroactive going back to 2006 and will keep increasing every year up to the year 2010. Those fees will never end, and will always increase. Along with higher fees, radio stations will be required to submit additional reports to the (CRB), thereby taking my valuable time away from me doing reports. So, on January 31, 2008 KFUN will stop broadcasting on the Internet. We thank each and every faithful listener from around the world that has tuned in to KFUN/AM & KLVF/FM on our website. I-25 is directly at the bottom of KFUN hill Las Vegas, New Mexico is the original Las Vegas. First established in 1835 and the original home of the Luis Maria Cabeza De Baca(Vaca) Land Grant This was a large land grant to Don Luis Maria Cabeza De Baca and his seventeen sons by the Spanish and Mexican government dating back to the territorial days. The Baca name (Cabeza De Baca) is a well established Spanish name in Las Vegas and New Mexico history Joseph P. Baca, owner of KFUN/AM 1230 is a direct descendant of Don Luis Maria Cabeza De Baca. Joseph and wife Loretta both natives of Las Vegas, New Mexico, are very happy to own KFUN radio station. They say: "We are extremely proud to own KFUN radio station the first and original radio station in Las Vegas, New Mexico. KFUN is recognized as being amongst the first 4 or 5 radio stations in the entire state of New Mexico which were the first stations to start broadcasting in the early days of radio in the "Land of Enchantment".
